Dr. Mungo is committed to providing quality pediatric dentistry dedicated to the total oral health and comfort of your children in a fun, gentle, and positive environment.

Dr. Mungo was born in Akron, Ohio. His Midwestern background prepared him well for the road head that eventually brought him to beautiful Southern California. Dr. Mungo attended the University of Akron, followed by graduate studies at Case Western Reserve University, where he received his Doctorate in Dental Surgery.

A tour of duty in the United States Navy provided an opportunity to expand his knowledge and continue his studies. A residency in pediatric dentistry at Boston University fulfilled Dr. Mungo’s dream of specializing in the oral health care needs of children.

The University of Southern California provided additional studies with a fellowship on children with birth defects and special needs. After gaining a teaching degree at the USC School of Medicine, Dr. Mungo spent the next fifteen years as the Director of Pediatric Dentistry at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. The hospital based practice and the day to day teaching and research activities were gratifying and very stimulating.

dr-yokoyamaDorothy Yokoyama, D.M.D.

Dr. Yokoyama was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She completed her undergraduate degree with the honor of Cum Laude at UC Irvine in the pre-dental honors program. She then received her Doctor of Medical Dentistry degree at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Missing the sunny beaches of southern California, Dr. Yokoyama went on to pursue her specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the University of Southern California. Dr. Mungo had the pleasure of becoming acquainted with Dr. Yokoyama while she was completing her residency in pediatric dentistry. As one of her USC professors, Dr. Mungo was fortunate to work side-by-side with her, not only at USC but in the operating room suites at CHOC Children’s Hospital and on the clinic floor at Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County. He knew, very quickly, that this was an outstanding doctor and compassionate young woman. Her interaction with children, as well as her ease in communicating with parents, set her aside from all the rest. Dr. Yokoyama offers children a positive dental experience while educating their parents on proper home care and a healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Yokoyama demonstrates her dedication to her chosen specialty by being an active and involved member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, California Dental Association, Orange County Dental Society and American Dental Association.

When asked about being a pediatric dentist, Dr. Yokoyama replied, “It encourages my creativity, requires me to understand the children I work with as people rather than just as patients. I have the precious opportunity to modify the environment into something safe so they can relate to allowing me to become a friend they can trust, as well as their doctor.”

Dr. Yokoyama is married and has a 2-year-old son, Aiden. She enjoys cooking, exercise and is active within her local church and community.
